CSI+ Supported the African Development Bank at Rio+20

DS-73-005

CSI+ supported the African Development Bank (AfDB) and AfDB partners to organize over a dozen events at Rio+20 in June 2012. Event presentations and discussions focused on the most sustainable means of instituting and implementing a green growth path in all African countries and noted the importance of adopting appropriate tools and instruments to effectively integrate green growth concepts and principles into existing development and sectoral plans.

The Earth Summit 2012, or Rio +20 Conference on Sustainable Development and the Green Economy was the third international conference on sustainable development aimed at reconciling the economic and environmental goals of the global community. It marked the 20-year follow-up to the historic 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED).

CSI+ had previously supported AfDB and its partners during the 17th annual UN conference on Climate Change in Durban (COP17) in December 2011 where it organized more than 100 discussions on issues critical to Africa’s future. CSI+ is now working towards the 18th Annual Conference of Parties on Climate Change to be held Nov 26 – Dec 7 2012 in Doha, Qatar.
