2012: Year of Sustainable Energy for All

Submitted by admin on

2012 is the year of Sustainable Energy for All. Africa’s progress on this hinges on two key issues: (a) access to energy and (b) adopting a low carbon growth path.

CSI+ closed out 2011 by working with the African Development Bank on the Africa Pavilion during the 17th annual UN conference on climate change in Durban, South Africa. CSI+ supported the Bank and its partners in organizing more than 100 discussions on issues critical to Africa’s future. At the Pavilion, African leaders spoke with one voice, calling for an extension of the Kyoto Protocol and adequate climate financing for Africa. Read more about the Africa Pavilion.

CSI+ is now working towards the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development and the Green Economy (taking place June 20 – 22 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and the 18th annual Conference of Parties on Climate Change (to be held Nov 26 – Dec 7 2012 Doha, Qatar).
