About:

Lamia’s professional interests lie principally in the fields of cross-cultural communication and international development.

While developing her career focus, Lamia did a stint working at a bustling café and another teaching a dance class to teenage girls. She soon realized that she belonged instead in a world that offered the challenge of millennium development goals and documents available in more than one language. Consequently, she coupled her coursework in Communication & Social Change with a position at the Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship, an NGO that assists young adults to become active and conscientious citizens of the world through grants and a strong and encouraging mentoring community. She later interned at the Outreach Department of the Seattle Public Broadcasting System channel, KCTS9. There she got a glimpse of the life of a television station employee and the ways media affects the local community, not only through TV programs, but also through various workshops, training courses and cultural events.

Prior to joining CSI+, Lamia worked at the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) in Tunis.  In the media and information unit she helped write and edit a range of communication strategy proposals and assisted in the development of training modules and media relations documents.

A recent graduate of Seattle University, Lamia earned degrees in Communications and Spanish.
