Buzz Schmidt is a Visiting Scholar at Dartmouth College’s  Tuck Business School and a Fellow of Tuck's Allwin Initiative for Corporate Social Responsibility.  In 1994, he  founded (and then led for 10 years) GuideStar USA, arguably one of the three or four cornerstones of the U.S. nonprofit sector. In 2005, he founded GuideStar International.  Mr. Schmidt chairs the boards of the FB Heron Foundation and the Nonprofit Quarterly and serves on the boards of the Institute for Philanthropy in London and Preservation Virginia. In 2000, he was named U.S. Nonprofit Executive of the Year by the Nonprofit Times and one of Time Magazine’s six visionary leaders of philanthropy.
