Expert Cynthia
About:
Cynthia specializes in international public health notably HIV/AIDS, social entrepreneurship, and scalable business models for positive social change. She has expertise in strategic planning, sourcing and procurement, budgeting and forecasting, social franchising, fundraising, and financial modeling. Her industry expertise includes public health, travel and tourism, private equity, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
Cynthia began her career as a management consultant in operations, cost reduction, and procurement. Later, she held the position of Director of Procurement Services for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc, a global hospitality company operating in more than 100 countries.
Her work in international development began when she spent several months on a career break living in South Africa, which inspired her to co-found the U.S. branch of the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, an organization providing support to orphaned and vulnerable children. Most recently, Cynthia was an LGT Venture Philanthropy Fellow, working with mothers2mothers (m2m), a multinational non-profit organization employing mothers living with HIV as peer educators to positive pregnant women.
Cynthia has an MBA from INSEAD and a BA in English Literature from Georgetown University. In her free time, Cynthia co-owns a yoga studio in New York City, mang'Oh yoga (www.mangohstudio.com), and is lead writer for the Foreign Policy Association blog, Global Health (http://globalhealth.foreignpolicyblogs.com).
